Little Known Secrets To A Profitable Thank You Page.

February 12th, 2008 · No Comments

An important and often overlooked part of your web site is your “Thank You” page.

But what the heck is a “Thank You” page you might ask.

Well it is exactly that: a page that will display a “Thank You” message after your visitor has signed up for your newsletter or purchased your product.

This is a mandatory step if you want your autoresponder to work properly. Of course you are using an autoresponder to build your profitable list aren’t you?

It is a little known secret that the “Thank You” page is an important part of your marketing effort. We will explain more about this below.

But first the technical part…

Well, just build a page with a “Thank You” message in it the same way you have been doing it for the other pages in your site and name it something like “thank-you-page.html”. It’s just that simple!

Now, the marketing side of a “Thank You” page…

First of all, keep in mind that not using the techniques mentioned below is literally leaving money on the table.

Key Point

Once somebody commits to doing one thing, they will consistently follow that commitment. So, an excellent opportunity to take advantage of this behavior is in a “Thank You” page your subscribers see after filling out a subscription form on your site.

Your visitor is making the “commitment” of filling out the first form (initial action) and will “consistently” follow that commitment if another action is presented to them next.

Here are some good ideas on how to extract extra value from the sign up process and your “Thank You” page.

According to our research and testing:

  • Submitting a question - People submitting questions have shown a VERY high level of interest in the subject of the question asked, any offer that is related to that subject will do well.
  • Clicking an affiliate link - As the visitor has already signed for your complimentary newsletter, chances are your visitor will trust the recommendation on your “Thank You” page.
  • Signing up for another list - As mentioned above, this can help you build a sub-list of people interested in very specific topics within your niche, thus allowing you to make very specific offers. This is always something very powerful.
  • Submitting a survey - This is similar to submitting a question, however the interest level and thus the response is not nearly as large. However you could offer them a second survey that pays you a CPA (Cost Per Action) for each person who completes it.

Now you know why you need a “Thank You” page and how it can help your marketing efforts, so go ahead and build yours.
