Joint Ventures For Newbies Part 1

April 21st, 2008 · No Comments

The whole purpose of doing a Joint Venture is to be able to market to a highly responsive targeted audience. As we have talked about in the earlier lessons a joint venture can help you or break you – depending on how you put the deal together. They can be used to build your traffic, increase your subscriber base, sell more of your products or, if properly done, all three at the same time!

This has been the Holy Grail of marketing on the Internet for years. In light of recent events the days of easily landing a JV with someone, who has a big list, are fast ending. That is not to say it can’t be done but it is getting much, much harder!

The marketers who have the big lists of hungry subscribers are getting very protective of their territory (lists). They have found that to protect their market they have to be very selective in whom they do a JV with and the product has to be exceptional. They also expect upwards of 90% of the profits from all sales that result from the JV deal.

You see these guys/gals know they have a very high demand commodity (their lists) and they can easily afford to be very selective. One of my clients was telling me he gets no less than 10 -12 emails and letters a day, and sometimes as many as 25 a day, from people asking to do a JV with him. He also mentioned that 99 out of a 100 of these people he has NEVER heard of before and he calls them the “wannabes”.

They “wannabe” a success and they do not “wanna” do any work for that success. These are the people that he calls the 30-day wonders. They have no clue as to what they are doing but they are going to tell everyone else how to do it!

You see if he did a JV with someone, like that, then his reputation would soon go down the proverbial toilet. I personally have cancelled many of my newsletter subscriptions for this very reason. The ezine owner once had some good information but then they started sending out what I call junk mails. They try to get their subscribers to buy everything that comes down the net that they can make a buck on and the majority of this stuff is pure junk.
