If you think you have really earned the right to step up to the “big leagues” then you need to be aware of the “rules”. In the next few paragraphs I will lay down some of these basic ground rules that you absolutely MUST follow to get anywhere.

Before you even consider asking anyone to do a joint venture with you should have all of the following in place first:

• A strong list of at least 1,000 – 2,000 subscribers earning you $.50 per month, or more, from each subscriber in total sales revenues. This illustrates you have learned some good copywriting skills.
• Be willing to promote the potential JV partners product first to prove you have a responsive list while “earning” the potential JV partners respect.
• A solid product with a good high converting sales page that you have sales figures on along with conversion rates.
  An affiliate program in place that you know is working well.
• A complete set of affiliate promotional tools – emails, banners, text links, etc.

Be prepared to spend a lot of time, in the beginning, doing research and selling other peoples products before you attempt to setup a JV. Like I previously said the bigger names get dozens of requests every day to setup JV deals and tend to be very picky about whom they associate with. You see they have taken a long time to build up their list and have to be selective as to what they promote – else they will end up losing subscribers themselves.

Paying a higher, than normal, commission to a JV partner is not only to be expected but is normal.In addition, you can expect to be asked to successfully promote one of their products first. You need to give them a sample copy of your sales page and the product, for review, along with hard numbers proving your sales conversion ratios.

If you don’t have these things in place stop right now and do them first. You only have one shot to get the potential JV partners attention and you need to be fully prepared first.

If you have already setup your own affiliate program you should have all of this in place on one or more of your current products. You need to show a trend of high converting sales letters and great product reviews. This will definitely go a long way to helping sell them on doing a JV with you.
