Internet Video - part 3 - Where does it go?

March 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

OK so in the last two parts of this blog string I have talked about the need to use video on your site, how to begin to do your own video, and some of the tools you can use to create internet video for marketing purposes.

Now I would like to talk a little about how easy it is to upload and share your video (ah this is the cool part). You see in the old days you had to create these short video clips, then you had to stream them using special servers, and you had to host them yourself which could mean taking up tons of space on your server. But the really cool thing now days is that there are a ton of sites out there just begging to host your video on their machines for nothing. Wow what a change. And it all has to do with this whole thing they call Web 2.0. Making content social and viral. So a site (think YouTube/Google and the like) now begs you to keep your video on their site in exchange for being able to share your video with the world.

So this means two things in my mind, one is that you should utilize these sites and load your video to as many as you can in order to build links, build audience, and build community. How many? Well that is up to you but as many as you can for the most impact on your business. Don’t and I repeat don’t just load it to YouTube and leave it at that! There are many niche video sites and it is worth it to try them out as well.

Here is a list of video sites that Jack Humphrey has created.

Secondly you should host a copy on your own site as well. That way you can have a clean version with no ads, no links, no banners on it. Now if you have a limited server in terms of storage then maybe this does not work. But if you can I would also host your own version.

So in short terms you will edit your video, add your URL to the video and then create the video to the correct format. Some sites love flash while some sites like other video formats like Windows Media. Find out what the sites like and produce for that. Sorry for the slim detail here on this topic. The juicy details are in our members area and I do not want to give away the store.

OK so what are you waiting for? Get on the video wagon now. Or get hold of us and let us help you.
